The shrimp used to be larger (and used to have tails, but I didn't want tails so that's a welcome change).
The drunken noodles were good, but were missing something. They were missing that smokey flavor you get when you nearly set fire to the noodles in the woke, using the open flame. In past meals it was definitely there, sometimes nearly blackened -- too much. This time it tasted like I could have used my wok on my electric stove for the same result. Maybe a new chef didn't know how to wok.
There was someone not quite right about the noodle to crunch ratio in the pad kee mow (drunken noodle) also. Not enough onions and definitely not enough crispy fresh lettuce.

1. Overall fantastic- will be back.
2. The midtown location serves a “free” rice appetizer upon seating which is a nice touch
3. The chicken satay texture was off- my wife and daughter thought it was either raw or past it’s shelf life
4. The cucumber salad was an outstanding value and super fresh
5. All entrees were fantastic
6. The porter beer was really good- could have easily had more
7. Service was top notch- makes a difference
8. We scarfed down the Roti but thought the value was bad..$5 for one piece
9. The reservation system and seating are enjoyable- that also makes a difference
10. We have room for you in Flower Mound- ! Riverwalk or Lakeside might work for you

One of our favorite Asian restaurants in the Dallas area. Wonderfully creative menu, and the dishes live up to their descriptions. In their craft brews are always varied and good. Malai Kitchen is always a great experience from the food, service and ambiance. I only had a couple minor issues this time. Someone dropped off a complimentary appetizer that had a piece of trash crumbled on it. Also the Massaman Lamb Shank was a bit on the fatty side. However, our server Riya provided beyond exceptional service and was very knowledgeable on the menu, very upbeat and set the bar quite high regarding service.

Our server was excellent. Atmosphere very nice. I have eaten here several times and yesterday had invited a friend from out of state to join me. I was disappointed as our food was lukewarm at best. I had also ordered my food spicy and I don't think there was any spice on the chicken at all. Sad to say but the food did not live up to the expecations.

Our main server must have been having a bad day - she was slow to arrive, and then had "attitude" about answering questions and even rolled her eyes when I indicated that I prefered to package my own leftovers. Not accaptable! Perhaps she needs a reminder that she is, ultimately, in the business of customer service; her personal preferences don't factor in to the equation!

The food at Malai Kitchen was delicious!! It was also really nice to eat lunch in the indoor patio. I only wish our waitress was more attentive to my party as she rarely checked on us and waited an extensive amount of time before coming back to take our food order. Hopefully for future visits, the service will be improved.
