So…
The staff tried their best but they were under resourced - it’s wasn’t their fault, a clear lack of investment.
Our score is based on comedic value, the reality is that hotel wasn’t clean - it was very old, tired and dirty.
Think of Fawlty Towers and you will be pretty close to what standard of service you will receive.

First time I've been to this hotel and must admit I loved it. The views from the bar area on a evening while having a couple of drinks are stunning. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere, good service and quality food.
We stopped in one of your cabins and found it very clean and tidy with enough room to relax and chill. Also as we traveled up on Motorbikes it was very good to be able to leave them at the back of hotel near cabins and away from road.
The location and value of hotel is excellent. Can't wait to visit again.

We arrived after a particularly hard day of hiking. Steve welcomed us and was just brilliant – so thanks to him for keeping our spirits high and smiles on our faces with lovely jokes. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The rooms were pleasant. There was some confusion about whether we were to be charged for lunches (we were booked by Macs Adventures), but it was worked out fairly quickly. We ate dinner in the Bar; my only complaint was the high volume of the music, which made conversation difficult. I didn't object to the music itself, just the volume. Had I known beforehand, I'd have booked for the restaurant instead.

Nice room. Comfortable bed. Nice en-suite. Liked the available parking. Evening meals were excellent. Breakfast food was generally good but service could have been better. We had a two night stay and I thought the bedroom could have been "made up" after the first night. I would have liked to have had another choice of bitter in the bar but that's me I like ales and good beers. Thanks.

We stayed in the cabins and these are great! Very basic but does the job. Comfy beds, tv and comfy pillows. Only one plug socket between four people so take an extension lead! Toilets are a trek so we brought our own portable toilet with tent. There’s a kitchen with a microwave, fridges and four electric rings. There’s no cutlery or plates so bring your own. This place is midge heaven so bring plenty of equipment and smidge so you don’t get bitten. Pub is ok, the beer tastes a bit weird and they ran out of wine when I was there. Never tried the food so I can’t comment on that. There is access to the lake but it’s abit boggy there, I still managed to get a swim in. Views of the lake are from the bar and not where the cabin and tents are. Overall and excellent stay. Take it for what it is.

The Bothy Bar has a superb view (even in the pouring rain!). We were given a warm welcome. The service was good and the waitress was very friendly. My wife had a vegan burger which she said was very good. I ordered a haggis pizza which sounded very promising but was a bit disappointing - it was mainly cheese with a few small pieces of haggis scattered on top.

We had a very warm welcome. There was an interesting menu and the food was beautifully presented. The only slight down side was that the table we had booked in the bar was not available when we arrived, so we were transferred to the dining room, which was quieter, but with no heating and few diners was lacking in atmosphere and a little chilly, but at least we could hear each other speak. The staff did a good job considering that at least two of the front of house staff were new and still in training. Well done, girls!

I couldn't book online because of the 24 hour in advance thing, so I instead tried calling to reserve a table. I called twice in the afternoon, leaving a message the first time, but no one answered or called me back. I walked to the bothy bar anyway in the evening to check if they had any non-reserved seating, but ended up having to eat somewhere else because they were hosting a wedding. I was quite frustrated that no one responded to me at all, and had to find out that way. We did make a reservation for the following night through the website, and the food was great, but the service was slow and disorganized. Having more people working would have helped a great deal, I think. Our server was obviously rushed, and did not seem to be having the best day.

Very small, convenience portions for a high amount. Waitress ask every 5 minutes for more orders. You dont feel welcome and the food was not good.

Very welcoming staff. Wholesome, filling food in good proportions. We badly missed vegetables and fruit. It MUST be possible to serve something green (frozen peas?!? Fresh broccoli?) even with Covid / infrequent deliveries. The salmon for breakfast was top drawer and moves the “food” rating up to a 6

Bored with burgers and pizza - every Scottish hotel/restaurant seems serve the same average food. Please use local produce and make it tasty - get out of the pizza/burger "rut"!
