We had a first class lunch at Bowleys. We chose the set menu which was good value for the Michelin standard food much of which is locally sourced. Before the starter we had a selection of amuse-bouche - delicious! We will definitely be returning for the best food in this area.

Didn’t get off to a good start because our usually very contented baby was crying and we were asked to move into the bar. He soon settled and slept for the rest of the time.
Felt the fish starter and main were too similar and did not like the grapefruit on the starter . Loved both deserts.
Would have preferred to have petit fours with coffee rather than with bill.
Although we had to move tables, our meal was delayed but we were not rushed
On the reservation was asked if special occasion and said it was both our birthdays but was not acknowledged
But overall, a lovely little restaurant, nicely furnished and spacious. Food really good, well executed and delicious
Looking forward to returning without the baby!

Whilst the service and servers were lovely, we had a few observations about the food. Putting beef jus over a lamb and over a Guinea fowl dishes was odd.
The Welsh rarebit amuse bouche was soggy.
The lemon mousse in the desert had too much gelatine and was slightly rubbery.
And we were not offered any coffees at the end of the meal.

We were well looked after throughout the evening and I have no objection to having sauce poured on my meal by the waiter, unlike the lady on another table who complained about it! The food was excellent and beautifully presented.

Externally it’s unprepossessing and the car park is quite small, but once inside you are warmly welcomed and treated as an honoured guest.
We chose the set lunch menu and before our meal Alex treated us to some amuse bouches which comprised a filo pastry cone filled with crab and and a cheese savoury followed by two very different breads and home made butters and an alioli like spread - scrumptious! It’s such a pleasure when the people who have prepared and cooked your food are keen to present it and engage with you.
My wife chose the smoked halibut to start and duck breast to follow and I had the vegetable spiral and the roasted brill, all of which were impeccably presented and mouth-wateringly delicious.
We were almost ready to leave, when Alex came out again and presented us with his ‘toy box’, an imaginatively made stained wooden box with a variety of different access points which housed a mixture of white and dark chocolate and strawberry treats.
A friend recommended Bowleys at the Plough and said it was very good. That was an understatement. I’ve yet to visit a better restaurant in Kent and some of London’s best could learn from Alex and the Yates family on how to delight their customers.
It was our first visit and we’ll definitely be going back.

Was a nice place and staff were friendly but we didnt have a good experience , mainly because there wasn't a Childrens menus except for smaller roasts.
My children dont like roasts so that then made it very difficult for us to enjoy our own meal as they didn't eat any of their food and were hungry and complaining the whole time , making it a horrible experience for us .
I then had to cook them food when I got home which the whole point of us eating out was to give me a break from cooking .
The beef was also very chewy and the chicken was dry and the gravy was very watery .
Hope this feedback helps , and i have learnt my lesson to always check if a childrens menus is available before booking.
I have never been anywhere where that wasn't offered before so was very suprised

As a fine dining experience we felt it was good but not special. The food had a bit too much salt and at times jus and sauce. This impacted some of the really nice flavours of the dishes, especially the cured trout, as a heavy soy overpowered the citrus lightness running through it. The waiter should have worn a mask, as attendees were of a vulnerable age and it would have relaxed us more. We will be back to try the taster menu and get a wider idea of the cooking, before we invite friends to come with us. At the moment we can't recommend Bowley's as a fine dining experience, but it is better than many pubs in the West Kent area.

A nice little restaurant in lovely area. I had Sunday Roast, which was above average with good quality meet. Would recommend. The starters however were a little over-priced and small. Lovely greeting as we entered the premises. Very comfortable and cozy interior, toilets impeccably clean. The Sunday lunch was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive. Will definitely be visiting again to try the tasting menu.

The food was superb - beautifully prepared, cooked & presented. the pigeon and venison had full flavour, as did my wife's halibut and turkey. Staff and service friendly and considerate. An excellent dining experience, thank you.

Three of the four of us had roast beef, one had roast chicken. The roast beef was cooked to our liking in each case, and was absolutely delicious. The roast potatoes were among the best we’ve ever eaten outside our own homes. Tasty gravy. Yorkshire puddings a little burnt but still mainly edible. Could have done with more veg!
Pear pud and chocolate pud nice enough.
Service was pretty good after the first hitch of our sitting at our table waiting to be given a menu (lunch had been booked in advance)….
Pretty expensive overall for what it was; there is a fair bit of competition in the larger area in which we choose to eat out.
