We found the woman who conducted the tasting to be arrogant and charmless. We were put off by the rigidity with respect to the wines offered for tasting. We were interested in the whites more than the reds, but the response was that we were limited to only the small number of wines available for tastings. The response was “we have 42 wines…you can’t taste them all”. In my experience, most wineries with an understanding of maximizing the customer experience provide their tasting hosts with some flexibility to open bottles that might not be on the tasting list. Finally, Bench has a beautiful outdoor space, yet we were required to stand in their gloomy and nondescript tasting room. Following the dour experience at Bench, we went down the street to Moraine Estate Winery and had a delightful experience – knowledgeable staff with a light and fun attitude who went above and beyond to make the experience memorable. We bought bottles at Moraine and none at Bench, primarily because we did not want any commission flowing to our hostess.

It was wonderful tasting experience. I had guests from Australia. They enjoyed wines & atmosphere. It was lovely that they accommodated us an hour early since our plan got changed due to the restaurant was closed.

Stopped in for a wine tasting today. Friendly service and a great selection of wines. The $10 tasting fee is a great deal considering you can use it towards your purchase - unlike some other wineries on the Naramata bench.
And if you're looking for a place for a glass of wine and bite to eat - with an unsurpassed view of Okanagan Lake - this is your place!
